Blueberry Banana Shake

Blueberry Banana Shake

I hope everyone has had a great start to their week! Mine has been wonderful. My week started off with an amazing Zumba class on Monday, burning almost 500 calories! Tonight’s workout was another Zumba class! Being able to take two Zumba classes in one week is a great treat! My eating has also been much healthier this week.

This morning’s breakfast was so refreshing and it definitely hit the spot.  Sometimes if I’m running a little late or just not in the mood for a heavy breakfast, I find that a shake is the best breakfast. They are easy to make and they are super nutritious!

Here are the ingredients you’ll need for 1 shake:
1 cup of coconut milk (or you could use almond milk)
½ cup of fresh or frozen blueberries
1 medium banana
1 container of Chobani blueberry yogurt (make sure your yogurt does not contain High Fructose Corn Syrup)
1 tbsp. blueberry flax seed
You could also put a scoop of protein powder into your shake. Sunwarrior Raw Vegan Protein Powder is my favorite!

Now just blend the ingredients together. Enjoy!
Nutrition information: This smoothie has 396calories. All of the calories are coming from healthy and nutritious sources too!

Nutrition tip:  A lot of people have the misconception that by skipping breakfast they will lose weight because they did not eat the extra morning calories. This is one of the most common pitfalls when it comes to weight loss. In fact, the majority of your daily calories should be consumed at the first meal of your day. This not only gives your body the fuel it needs to start the day, but it also prevents you from overeating throughout the day. For example, if you skip breakfast and you go into lunch extremely hungry, you’re more likely to eat more and consume more calories at lunch than you would if you would have eaten a well rounded breakfast.

Do you eat breakfast every day?

Stay tuned for the good news  (part 2) release  later this week!

  1. Hey Kristin! This looks delicious! At some point can you share a little bit more about flax seed? Lately I’ve been intrigued by it and know you use it a lot in your cooking/baking but I haven’t tried it yet. Thanks!
